Johor Umno welcomes the proposal to readmit suspended or expelled members, with the final decision resting with the party’s Supreme Council

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Umno has welcomed party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s proposal to readmit previously suspended or expelled members.

State chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic) said the leadership is open to individuals, especially from Johor, who wish to rejoin.

“The final decision will be made by the party’s Supreme Council through the Rumah Bangsa mechanism,” he told reporters after chairing a state liaison body meeting.

He was joined by vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and other senior leaders.

On preparations for a state election, Onn Hafiz said the current focus is on assisting people facing challenges.

“We are aware that the people are facing difficulties and there are various issues that need to be resolved,” he stated.

He confirmed no decision has been made on the election’s timing or other details.

The move follows a video statement last Thursday by former vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Sembrong MP expressed willingness to return to active participation if his suspension is lifted.

He described Zahid’s statement as a very meaningful recognition.
