Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim calls for strict monitoring of Kota Kinabalu projects, warning against delays that impact public wellbeing and state progress.

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for all parties to remain focused and closely monitor the implementation of every approved development project for the Kota Kinabalu district.

He stated that the move is crucial as the people have high expectations for projects with a direct impact on their daily lives, including road and infrastructure upgrades.

“In my view, there should be no excuses for projects to be delayed due to inefficiency or bureaucratic red tape because every delay will ultimately affect the people’s quality of life, while also restraining the state’s potential for progress and development,” he said in a Facebook post.

The Prime Minister added that the government remains focused on ensuring every planned project is implemented efficiently, transparently and on schedule for the fastest possible public benefit.

He chaired the Kota Kinabalu Special Development Committee meeting at Menara Kinabalu earlier to discuss the strategic development agenda for Sabah’s capital city.

The meeting from 1 pm to 2 pm was also attended by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor alongside several state Cabinet members and leaders of relevant agencies.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is also the state’s Finance Minister.

Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif and Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Rubin Balang were in attendance as well.

The meeting included Sabah Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib and Sabah Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Mojungki.

Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah also attended the special committee meeting.

The session was held to discuss the latest developments of ongoing programmes and projects while examining issues related to local community wellbeing.

A further objective was to strengthen cooperation between the Federal Government and the State Government of Sabah.
