The Court of Appeal will hear Rosmah Mansor’s appeal against her conviction and RM970 million fine in a RM1.25 billion solar graft case over three days starting July 1
PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has scheduled three days from July 1 to hear Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s appeal to overturn her conviction and sentence in the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project corruption case.
Her lawyer, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, confirmed the dates were fixed during a case management before Judge Datuk Nadzarin Wok Nordin.
Rosmah has also filed an application to review the Federal Court’s recent dismissal of her bid to recuse the trial judge, Datuk Mohamed Zaini Mazlan.
On March 3, the Federal Court ruled there was no appealable error in the earlier decision regarding the recusal application.
On September 1, 2022, Judge Mohamed Zaini sentenced Rosmah to 10 years in jail and fined her RM970 million.
The court ruled she would serve an additional 10 years in prison if she failed to pay the fine, but suspended the sentence pending her appeal.
Zaini convicted Rosmah of soliciting RM187.5 million from former Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin through her former aide, Rizal Mansor.
She was also found guilty of receiving bribes of RM5 million on December 20, 2016, and RM1.5 million on September 7, 2017, from Saidi.
