Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will visit Japan for high-level meetings to commemorate six decades of diplomatic ties and strengthen economic cooperation.

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will embark on a three-day official visit to Japan from March 17 to 19 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

During the visit, Wong will meet his Japanese counterpart, Sanae Takaichi, inspect a guard of honour at a welcome ceremony, and attend a working dinner hosted by the Japanese leader.

The Singaporean delegation will also engage with senior Japanese political and business leaders, as well as members of the Singaporean community residing in Japan.

Wong will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Manpower Minister Tan See Leng, who also oversees energy, science and technology.

Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Sim Ann will also join the official delegation.

Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and Health Rahayu Mahzam and Minister of State for Defence Desmond Choo will be present as part of the visiting party.

Japan was Singapore’s eighth-largest trading partner in 2025, while the republic ranked as Japan’s 14th-largest trading partner.

Singapore also stands as Japan’s largest investment destination in Asia, hosting more than 5,300 Japanese-registered companies as of the end of December 2025.
