A drone strike triggered a major fire at a key petroleum industrial zone in the UAE’s Fujairah emirate, with authorities confirming no injuries from the incident.
FUJAIRAH: A drone attack triggered a major fire at a petroleum industry facility in the United Arab Emirates’ eastern emirate of Fujairah on Monday, according to local authorities.
The Fujairah government’s media office reported that specialised agencies confirmed the fire broke out in the Fujairah Petroleum Industrial Zone following the drone strike.
Civil defence teams immediately responded to the incident and worked to bring the blaze under control, the media office added, noting that the attack caused no injuries.
The incident occurs amid escalating regional hostilities following joint Israeli and US attacks on Iran on Feb 28, which reportedly killed around 1,300 people including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has since retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
