
Three men died after being electrocuted while attempting to steal cables from a TNB pylon in Ipoh, with police investigating the case as attempted theft.
IPOH: Three men were found dead this morning, believed to have been electrocuted while attempting to steal cables.
The incident occurred at an open field in Taman Rapat Perdana near a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) pylon.
Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police received a public tip-off at 10 am.
A police team rushed to the location and confirmed the three men were dead at the scene.
“Initial investigations suggest that the trio were electrocuted while attempting to cut electric cables on the TNB pylon,” he said in a statement.
The bodies were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital forensic department for a post-mortem.
Police are investigating the case under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code for attempted theft.
It has also been classified as a Sudden Death Report pending further investigation.
