TNB warns that electrical installations are dangerous and must not be touched or tampered with, following a fatal electrocution incident in Ipoh
IPOH: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has issued a stern warning to the public that electrical installations such as poles, cables, and power lines are hazardous and must not be touched or tampered with by anyone.
The utility giant stated that interfering with or damaging electrical infrastructure is not only illegal but also carries the risk of fatal electrocution.
“The public is advised to stay away from electrical installations and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the authorities or TNB to prevent unwanted incidents,” the statement said.
TNB confirmed it is providing full cooperation in the investigation into an incident where three men died from a suspected electric shock while attempting to steal cable from an electrical installation.
A TNB team dispatched to the location near Taman Rapat Mutiara is assisting the Royal Malaysia Police and the Energy Commission with further investigations.
Police said the three men, aged between 35 and 50, died from a suspected electric shock while trying to cut cable from a TNB pole.
