The National Farmers’ Organisation achieved its highest-ever profit of RM221 million in 2024, distributing over RM21 million in dividends to farmers nationwide.

PETALING JAYA: The National Farmers’ Organisation (NAFAS) recorded its highest-ever profit since its establishment in 1972, achieving RM221 million for the 2024 financial year.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu announced that RM21,002,941 from the total profit has been distributed to 14 State Farmers’ Organisations (PPN), benefiting 212 Area Farmers’ Organisations (PPK).

He stated that the dividend distribution was expedited through a special directive to ensure the welfare of farmer members continues to be safeguarded.

“NAFAS Reform 2.0 is not just a gimmick or slogan – it has already shown results through transparent governance, improved accountability, and strong financial discipline,” he said at the Dividend Distribution Ceremony for PPN and the NAFAS 2026 Iftar event.

Mohamad emphasised his commitment to using powers under the law to assist farmer members, citing his previous success in helping NAFAS obtain a RM20 million government allocation.

He noted that the financial results for the 2025 financial year are still being processed and are expected to be finalised soon or by next year at the latest.

In a related development, Mohamad assured that the supply of essential goods such as meat and chicken will be sufficient ahead of Aidilfitri, advising the public not to engage in panic buying.

He said supply is expected to remain stable nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak, until mid-year.

Mohamad acknowledged that external factors such as international conflicts may lead to price increases in the coming months, with any impact from factors like rising fuel prices potentially being felt in the next two to three months.

He added that the government will take into account the views of the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry, the Finance Ministry, and all relevant parties, making announcements from time to time.
