Malaysia bans goods and logistics vehicles on March 19-20 and 28-29 to ease Aidilfitri traffic, with exemptions for essential services and time-limited heavy vehicle operations.

KUALA LUMPUR: A ban on goods and logistics vehicles will be enforced on key travel dates during the Aidilfitri festive season.

The Transport Ministry (MOT) said the prohibition will take effect on March 19 and 20, as well as March 28 and 29.

The measure aims to ensure smoother traffic flow, reduce accident risks and provide a safer, more comfortable journey.

“The ban is implemented to balance traffic flow with critical operations,” the ministry said in a Facebook post.

It encouraged the public to plan their journeys carefully and comply with regulations for the safety of all.

In a separate post, MOT outlined exemptions and specific time limits for certain heavy vehicles on the affected dates.

Container and cargo lorries may operate from 8 am to 8 pm, while construction vehicles are permitted from 6 am to 6 pm within a 25-kilometre radius.

Exemptions are also given to critical services, including emergency operations, transport from ports and airports, and the delivery of essential goods.

“This approach reflects MOT’s commitment to ensuring road safety and smooth traffic flow without disrupting essential operations,” it said.
