The MADANI surau at the Seremban R&R southbound is the first highway surau approved for Aidilfitri prayers, offering a convenient stop for travellers and workers
SEREMBAN: The MADANI surau at the Seremban Rest and Service area southbound has become the first surau along a Malaysian highway approved to hold Aidilfitri prayers.
PLUS Malaysia Bhd stated the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department granted the approval to facilitate highway users and R&R workers.
The location was selected for its strategic position as a major stop with high southbound traffic flow.
It specifically serves travellers heading to Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
The surau was also chosen due to its larger capacity and complete, comfortable facilities.
This enables it to accommodate a large number of congregants for the prayers.
“The layout of the rest area and adequate parking capacity will also support smooth traffic flow without disrupting the main highway,” said PLUS.
Aidilfitri prayers are scheduled for 8.30 am on 1 Syawal, subject to the official moon sighting announcement.
PLUS said the initiative considers the needs of R&R residents, workers, and highway users still in transit.
It allows them to perform prayers without having to exit the highway.
The company advised motorists to prioritise safety and comply with traffic regulations.
It also encouraged practising patience and consideration while driving during the festive period.
PLUS expects traffic to increase to up to 2.3 million vehicles daily on peak festive days.
Users are encouraged to plan journeys early and follow the MyPLUS-TTA digital travel schedule via the PLUS application.
