Israeli minister Zeev Elkin says US-Israeli strikes on Iran are a ‘blessing’, advocating for prolonging the conflict as war enters its third week

JERUSALEM: A senior Israeli minister has described the ongoing war against Iran as “an immense blessing” for Israel.

Zeev Elkin, a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, made the remarks on army radio nearly three weeks into the Middle East conflict.

“The debate should not be about when (the war) will end, but about how we are going to prolong and deepen the damage caused,” Elkin said.

He also serves on the security cabinet responsible for approving large-scale military operations.

Israel and the United States launched strikes on Iran on February 28, triggering a regional war.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said there was no “time frame” for ending the conflict.

“It will be at the president’s choosing, ultimately, where we say, ‘Hey, we’ve achieved what we need to,’” he told reporters.
