
A motorcyclist was assaulted by four men in Kulai after overtaking their car, sustaining head injuries requiring stitches in a road rage incident.
JOHOR BAHRU: A motorcyclist was seriously assaulted by four men in a suspected road rage incident last Tuesday. The 33-year-old victim required five stitches to a head wound after being struck with a stick.
Kulai district police chief ACP Tan Seng Lee said the incident occurred around 9.50 pm near the Masjid Sementara Bukit Batu. Police are investigating the case which went viral on social media platform X.
“Preliminary investigations found that the incident is believed to have occurred when the victim was riding his motorcycle home after performing prayers at the mosque,” Tan said in a statement.
The victim is believed to have overtaken a grey Proton Saga. The car then allegedly drove recklessly to overtake him before stopping abruptly in front of his motorcycle.
Four unidentified men then alighted from the vehicle. One of them struck the victim on the head with a stick, causing him to fall from his motorcycle.
The other suspects proceeded to kick the victim while he was on the ground. They then took his motorcycle key before fleeing the scene in their car.
The victim sustained a head injury requiring five stitches. He also suffered several other injuries to his body from the assault.
The case is being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving. It is also being probed under Section 324 for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
Police efforts to track down the suspects are currently ongoing. Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information related to the incident.
