DIEGO GARCIA: Iran launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles targeting the Diego Garcia military base. According to a Wall Street Journal report citing multiple US officials, neither missile struck the strategic US-UK facility in the Indian Ocean.

One of the missiles reportedly failed in flight. A US warship fired an SM-3 interceptor at the other projectile.

It remains unclear if the interception attempt was successful. The report did not specify the exact timing of the missile launches.

The White House, the British embassy in Washington, and the UK Ministry of Defence did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters.
