KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has called on Malaysian Muslims to embrace the festival’s core values of moderation, gratitude, and compassion.
The national unity advocate said celebrating with simplicity and avoiding excess aligns with the spirit of Ramadan, which teaches sacrifice and empathy.
“This year’s Aidilfitri is observed in a spirit of reflection, as the world continues to grapple with ongoing conflict in the Middle East (West Asia),” he said in a statement.
Lee noted that Malaysians are also facing rising living costs and economic uncertainties at home.
He urged all Malaysians to strengthen bonds of unity and extend a helping hand to one another regardless of background.
With many families under financial pressure, he emphasised the importance of prudent spending and responsible financial management.
“May this Aidilfitri serve as a renewed beginning for all of us to reaffirm our shared values,” he said.
Lee added that the occasion should strengthen humanity and work towards a more caring and resilient society.
