The woman said she gave her nieces and nephews SGD50 notes — one for each child as duit Raya.

A Malaysian woman recently amused netizens after sharing a hilarious duit Raya moment involving Singaporean currency.

In a Threads post online, the woman said she once gave her nieces and nephews in the village blue Singapore dollar notes — one for each child, totalling four (the blue Singapore note is the SGD50 denomination).

This meant each kid received approximately RM153.

However the sight of the foreign looking note left her nieces and nephews looking confused and chose to pass the money to their father.

“The eldest asked, ‘What money is this? Can’t use it, I don’t want it,’” she shared.

The younger siblings quickly followed suit, handing over their envelopes without hesitation.

Their father, however, had a very different reaction.

“He quietly took all the money and slipped it into his pocket,” she said, adding that he jokingly remarked, “Good — the kids don’t know the value of money yet.”

Many found the situation relatable and hilarious, with some joking that the real winner of that Raya moment was clearly the father, who ended up “collecting” all the duit Raya for himself.
