Kelantan JPJ refutes social media allegations linking its patrol to a fatal accident, stating personnel followed SOPs during Ops Hari Raya patrol.

KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Road Transport Department has strongly denied viral social media allegations that one of its enforcement vehicles caused a fatal accident.

The incident occurred yesterday at KM 85.5 of Jalan Kota Bharu-Machang-Jeli near Kampung Rahmat, Bukit Bunga.

Kelantan JPJ director Mohd Misuari Abdullah (pic) said the department takes the spread of inaccurate information seriously.

“The claim that the accident was caused by JPJ personnel chasing a lorry, as depicted in a 34-second viral video, is false and baseless,” he said in a statement.

He clarified that the departmental vehicle was on an official patrol for Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 at the time.

The personnel involved adhered to all standard operating procedures and traffic regulations during their duties.

Muhd Misuari added that further investigation into the crash falls under police jurisdiction.

He urged the public to avoid speculation and sharing unverified information until the probe concludes.

The department also expressed its deepest sympathy to the victims and condolences to the family of the deceased.

In the 4.30 pm incident, 25-year-old Mursyid Azmi was killed following a collision involving two vehicles.

Initial reports indicate the Perodua Myvi driven by the victim veered into the opposite lane before the collision.
