A fire in Kampung Din Manbo, Batu Feringghi, destroyed 11 semi-permanent houses, with no casualties reported as firefighters battled narrow access and low water pressure.

BATU FERINGGHI: Eleven houses were damaged in a fire at Kampung Din Manbo this morning.

The Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) confirmed no casualties were reported in the incident.

Assistant director (Operations) John Sagun Francis said 23 personnel with seven fire engines from three stations were dispatched after an emergency call at 11.29 am.

He stated the fire involved 11 double-storey semi-permanent houses, with structural damage estimated at about 80%.

“Firefighting operations were challenging due to narrow access routes and low water pressure at the location,” he said in a statement.

The blaze was brought under control by 12.21 pm.
