Kelantan KPDN raids house, seizes over 300kg of subsidised cooking oil and arrests three men suspected of black market sales.

KOTA BHARU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has dismantled a syndicate suspected of misappropriating subsidised cooking oil.

A raid on a house in Kampung Lubuk Tapah, Pasir Mas, led to the arrest of three local men aged 27, 28 and 44.

Kelantan KPDN deputy director Aswadi Jaafar said the premises was believed to be a transit point before the cooking oil was smuggled for black market sales.

“The suspects were caught moving boxes of subsidised cooking oil outside a house thought to be a transit point before the supplies were sold on the black market,” he said.

Authorities seized a total of 323kg of the subsidised product during the operation.

This comprised 12 boxes, weighing 204kg, found outside the house and another 119kg discovered inside.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

All suspects have been taken to the KPDN office for further action.

Initial intelligence had identified a white Toyota Hiace van believed to be used by the syndicate for deliveries.
