Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says a special briefing with state leaders will be held next week to discuss economic and security measures.
SHAH ALAM: The government will convene a special meeting with state leaders next week to discuss joint actions regarding the uncertain situation in West Asia.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the briefing will be delivered by the National Security Council and the National Economic Action Council.
It aims to formulate measures to guarantee economic sustainability and national security.
Anwar expressed gratitude that Malaysia’s current challenges are less complex than those faced by neighbouring countries.
He stated there has been no rationing or sudden increase in RON95 petrol prices so far.
Supplies can be guaranteed until May and the situation is being monitored daily, he added.
Commenting on an opposition proposal for a special parliamentary session, Anwar said this would only be considered after a concrete plan is drawn up from discussions with state leaders.
He stressed that the national oil supply remains stable and sufficient to meet domestic needs until May.
“Petronas’ specialty is its diversified investments, not only in the Gulf countries but also in Brazil, Suriname and Canada,” he said.
The Prime Minister said the focus is on securing returns and revenue to meet local needs.
He urged the nation to remain vigilant and focus on defending the people’s welfare rather than political issues.
“We should be grateful and not be too complacent and too busy with political issues but focus on defending the fate of the people and the country,” he said.
