Tourism minister calls for price stability and pledges engagement with industry to address challenges from international conflict.

PUTRAJAYA: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has urged all industry operators to remain rational and not exploit the current global conflict by raising prices.

He called on businesses to avoid transferring unreasonable costs that would burden consumers and the market.

In response to pressures facing the sector, Tiong has instructed his team to hold immediate and comprehensive engagement sessions with industry players. These sessions will include tourism transport and related service providers to gather direct feedback.

The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the actual situation, including cost pressures, operational impacts, and potential losses. This will ensure any steps taken truly meet the industry’s needs.

Tiong’s team is also actively communicating with the Ministry of Finance to examine appropriate solutions. The goal is to help the industry navigate current challenges more smoothly.

“The MOF also expressed its support for coordination efforts being taken,” he said. The ministry will evaluate the overall impact based on submitted data to enable more targeted solutions.

The government prioritises public welfare and industry stability, Tiong added. All related measures will be introduced gradually after thorough evaluation to ensure operational continuity and support economic development.
