Sabah’s stability and progress stem from close cooperation between the state government and its people, driving inclusive development and economic growth.
KOTA KINABALU: The stability and progress enjoyed by Sabah today are the direct result of a shared commitment and consensus between the state government and its people to strengthen the economy and enhance social well-being.
Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman stated that this close cooperation has enabled the state to continue moving forward, particularly in ensuring more inclusive and balanced development across all regions, including rural areas.
He highlighted encouraging progress in the economic, investment, and infrastructure sectors in recent years during a special address at Istana Seri Kinabalu.
“Various initiatives have been implemented to strengthen the state’s economic foundation through the empowerment of key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, industry and resource-based economy,” Musa said.
He added that efforts to attract domestic and foreign investments have been intensified to create more job opportunities and stimulate sustainable growth.
Musa delivered the address at an investiture ceremony for state honours, which saw 90 individuals receive their awards, with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and other state government members in attendance.
The Head of State also called for a continued emphasis on developing basic infrastructure, including roads, clean water supply, and stable electricity.
He stated that such efforts are crucial for safeguarding public well-being, driving economic growth, and strengthening connectivity between urban and rural areas.
Well-planned and resilient infrastructure development will serve as a catalyst for the state’s overall progress to ensure no community is left behind, according to Musa.
He further emphasised that education and human capital development must be prioritised to produce a knowledgeable and competitive younger generation.
Enhancing quality medical facilities and comprehensive healthcare services is also vital to ensure every citizen receives prompt and effective treatment, he added.
Musa expressed satisfaction with the ongoing digital transformation in public service delivery, which enhances efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for the people.
“The need to strengthen integrity in the public service must always remain a priority in building an administration that is respected and trusted by the people,” he stated.
He concluded by stressing that accountability and transparency in managing state finances are crucial to ensure every allocation truly benefits the people.
Every spending decision must be made carefully, guided by the principles of good governance while considering effectiveness and long-term impact.
