Most states in Malaysia are forecast to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 9 pm on Monday, according to the national weather agency.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a forecast warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across most states and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur until 9 pm today.

The affected areas in the northern region include Perlis, as well as several districts in Kedah such as Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.

In Perak, the warning covers Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

The east coast states of Kelantan and Terengganu are also affected, specifically the districts of Jeli, Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang in Kelantan, and Hulu Terengganu and Dungun in Terengganu.

In Pahang, the forecast applies to Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub and Jerantut, while in Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Petaling are expected to experience the adverse weather.

Similar conditions are anticipated in Negeri Sembilan’s Jempol district and several parts of Johor, including Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang and Kulai.

The warning extends to Sarawak, covering Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song), Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the affected areas include the Interior Division, namely Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort and Tambunan, as well as the West Coast districts of Papar, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud.
