US President Donald Trump threatens to attack Iranian oil and power infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened immediately

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran on Monday to open the Strait of Hormuz.

He threatened US attacks on Iranian oil wells and power plants if the vital waterway is not immediately opened for business.

“Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island,” Trump wrote in a social media post.

The strait is a critical global chokepoint for oil shipments from the Middle East.

Trump’s latest warning escalates tensions with Tehran amid ongoing diplomatic efforts.
