A 46-year-old man was taken into custody in the early hours of April 3 on suspicion of drink-driving and fleeing the scene after his car collided with a motorcycle in Serangoon. The Straits Times states the crash happened at about 12:40 a.m. at the junction of Serangoon North Avenue 1 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
Emergency teams from the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived shortly after the emergency call and found the 38-year-old motorcyclist conscious by the roadside. He was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment.
Police say the car’s driver had already left before officers reached the site but was arrested later that morning. Investigations into the collision’s circumstances and the driver’s condition remain ongoing.
Footage captured by a bystander and shared online shows the injured motorcyclist lying on the road shoulder, his bike a few metres away, as passers-by rush to assist him. No further details have been released at this time.
