Ahmad Radhi Maarof, with over 25 years of experience, is appointed as the new director-general of the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) effective immediately.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has announced the appointment of Ahmad Radhi Maarof as its new director-general.

The appointment, effective immediately, aligns with the government’s commitment to strengthen governance and improve land public transport service delivery.

APAD stated that his leadership and extensive experience will help steer the agency towards a more efficient and integrated transport system.

“With his leadership, extensive experience and technical expertise, he is confident that he will be able to lead APAD towards strengthening a more efficient, integrated, sustainable and people-focused land public transport system,” the agency said.

Ahmad Radhi, 53, brings over 25 years of expertise in urban planning, transport, and land public transport system transformation.

He previously served as APAD’s deputy director-general (development) for seven years before this promotion.

His career began as an Urban Planning Consultant working on State Structure and District Local Plans from 1999 to 2012.

He joined the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) in 2012, transitioning to APAD upon its establishment in 2019.

During his tenure, he was directly involved in preparing the Land Public Transport Master Plan and implementing key programmes.

These included the stop-and-go bus programme in nine state capital locations and monitoring railway and technology projects.

He was appointed director of APAD’s Road Mode Policy Planning Division after the agency’s formation.

His most recent role was as deputy director-general, a position he held from February 10, 2024.
