
The AI Governance Bill and Malaysia’s stance on a US Supreme Court tariff ruling are key topics for today’s parliamentary session, alongside energy theft and water loss issues.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Artificial Intelligence Governance Bill and Malaysia’s official stance on a United States Supreme Court ruling are set for discussion in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to the Order Paper, Rodziah Ismail will ask the Prime Minister to explain how the bill addresses copyright issues from AI systems trained on protected data.
She also seeks clarification on protections for creators whose works are used without approval.
Datuk Rosol Wahid will ask the Prime Minister to state the government’s official stance on the US Supreme Court’s decision declaring tariffs introduced by Donald Trump illegal.
He also wants to know the implications for Malaysia-US trade ties.
Lee Chean Chung will ask the Minister of Energy Transition about electricity theft cases detected via the Distribution Transformer Meter system and smart meters.
His question includes the estimated financial losses suffered by Tenaga Nasional Bhd from such activities.
Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man will ask the same minister why last year’s non-revenue water target of 31% was not achieved despite a RM2.525 billion allocation.
He will also inquire about corrective measures to achieve the 25% target by 2030.
After the question session, the sitting will proceed with the second reading of the Environmental Quality (Amendment) Bill 2026.
The Minister of Finance will also table the Supplementary Supply Bill (2025) 2026 for second reading.
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department is scheduled to table two Constitution Amendment Bills for second reading.
