AKPK’s new Aidilfitri video ‘Cerminan Jiwa’ highlights social pressures and credit risks, urging financial discipline and prudent spending during the festive season
KUALA LUMPUR: The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) has launched a short festive video titled ‘Cerminan Jiwa’. The video highlights the social pressures and credit risks associated with Aidilfitri preparations.
It portrays the dilemma of a family head named ‘Jiwa’. He faces a conflict between meeting lifestyle demands and maintaining long-term financial stability.
AKPK said the video emphasises personal responsibility and the courage to reject unreasonable spending. This is to preserve family harmony and peace of mind.
The agency’s statement said the video depicts the domino effect of hasty financial decisions. This includes dwindling account balances, the risk of easy loan traps and declining productivity.
Acting AKPK chief executive officer Azman Hasim reminded the public that true financial well-being is achieved through disciplined savings. He also stressed the importance of prudent cash management.
He said the use of temporary credit solutions like Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) should be controlled and prudent. This is to avoid consumers falling into a cycle of debt.
“With wise financial management, spending to celebrate festivities not only brings joy to the family, but also builds a strong financial foundation for the future,” he said.
The ‘Cerminan Jiwa’ video can be viewed on AKPK’s social media platforms.
