An emotional Anthony Kim claimed his first golf title since 2010 at LIV Adelaide, completing a remarkable comeback from addiction and retirement.

ADELAIDE: An “overwhelmed” Anthony Kim captured his first LIV Golf title and his first win on any tour since 2010, completing an incredible redemption story at the Grange Golf Club.

The 40-year-old American, who battled addiction and retired from golf in 2012, fired a nine-under-par 63 to win by three strokes.

He began the final day five shots behind overnight leaders Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau but reeled them in with a faultless round.

Kim finished at 23-under, three clear of Spain’s Rahm, who carded a one-over 71.

American DeChambeau suffered a horror front nine with four bogeys, finishing tied for third six shots off the pace.

Victory capped an amazing comeback for the former world number six and three-time PGA Tour winner.

He returned to golf in 2024 on the LIV Tour after battling drug and alcohol addiction and suicidal thoughts.

Kim was relegated last season but earned his way back via last month’s LIV Golf Promotions qualifying event.

He then secured a full-time spot with Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC for 2026 after Patrick Reed’s sudden departure.

“It’s been overwhelming,” Kim said after his first win since the 2010 Houston Open.

He paid tribute to his family for helping him through the hard times, adding, “I’m never not going to fight for my family.”

“God gave me a talent. I was able to produce some good golf today. I knew it was coming,” he said.

Kim, who announced in 2025 he had been sober for two years, also had a message for others struggling.

“Nobody else has to believe in me, but me. And for anybody that’s struggling, you can get through anything.”

A precocious talent who burst onto the scene in 2006, Kim was a key part of the winning 2008 US Ryder Cup team.

He won three PGA Tour titles before his sensational decision to walk away from the sport.

“I just want to thank all the people that have supported me when I was not playing well and I was struggling on the verge of never coming back to live,” Kim said.
