Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim allocates an additional RM20 million to Chinese National-Type Secondary Schools nationwide for facility upgrades.

IPOH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional RM20 million allocation for Chinese National-Type Secondary Schools (SMJKC) across the country.

The funding is intended to improve basic facilities and amenities within these schools.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the allocation aligns with the government’s efforts to strengthen the education sector under the Malaysia MADANI principles.

“I am announcing the additional allocation of RM20 million for SMJKC to improve basic facilities and school needs,” he stated at an event in his Tambun constituency.

He emphasised that the education system must cultivate students who excel academically while also being disciplined and morally upright.

“We are a country with diverse races and religions,” Anwar said.

“Education must teach us so that we understand and respect each other.”

The announcement was made during a MADANI Compassion Contribution ceremony held at SMJK Yuk Choy, coinciding with Chinese New Year and Ramadan celebrations.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek were also present at the event.

Anwar, as the Tambun MP, presented contributions to student representatives during the ceremony.

Approximately 3,000 students from the constituency attended the event, which featured various performances.
