KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for successfully elevating Malaysia’s standing on the global stage while driving the nation’s economic growth.
Hajiji stated that since taking office, the Prime Minister has strengthened ties with world leaders, thereby boosting international investor confidence in Malaysia.
“I would like to reiterate that the Sabah Government under my leadership, formed following the conclusion of the 17th state election, will continue to provide strong support and backing for the leadership of the Prime Minister,” he said in a speech at a MADANI breaking-of-fast event with Anwar at Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
He cited Malaysia’s successful hosting of the 47th ASEAN Summit last year as a key achievement executed excellently under Anwar’s stewardship.
Hajiji added that the MADANI government’s leadership had also succeeded in driving the country’s economic growth with encouraging investment achievements.
He highlighted that Malaysia recorded its highest ever investment figure last year at RM426.7 billion, marking an 11% increase compared to 2022.
“The investments also involved more than 8,000 projects with the potential to create 244,902 job opportunities,” he noted.
Hajiji pointed to the strengthening ringgit as a signal that the MADANI government’s leadership is on the right track to bring Malaysia towards progress and excellence.
The Chief Minister also welcomed the Federal Government’s strategic approach in channelling assistance to the people, including bringing forward the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) ahead of Aidilfitri.
“This also includes the RM400 FlySiswa special assistance for public university students travelling home for the festive break,” he said.
Hajiji added that the Sabah state government provides additional assistance to its students studying at higher education institutions to help them return to their hometowns for Aidilfitri.
