Minister Armizan Mohd Ali assures sufficient Aidilfitri essential goods supply, urges against panic buying despite West Asia conflict concerns.

KUALA LUMPUR: The public has been urged not to engage in panic buying over concerns that the West Asia conflict could affect import supplies.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the supply of essential goods for the upcoming Aidilfitri festive season is sufficient and already available in the country.

He said his ministry would work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry to identify alternative supply sources if needed.

“I would like to assure the public not to worry and not to engage in panic buying,” he told a press conference.

The Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme for Aidilfitri 2026 will be implemented from March 14 to 28 to control prices of 27 essential items.

These items include large yellow onions, large red onions, red chillies, long beans, green mustard leaves, coconut milk, and the newly added dhal.

Armizan said enforcement officers would carry out monitoring to ensure compliance with the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

Separately, his ministry is targeting 1,898 series of the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme nationwide throughout Ramadan.

A total of 910 programmes have been implemented as of March 9, with 988 more scheduled until a day before Aidilfitri.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed that items sold under the programme be increased to at least 50 types in the final week of Ramadan.

Armizan also launched the Service Ihsan MADANI@Petronas AutoExpert programme, offering vehicle service discounts of between 10% and 30%.

The programme runs from March 10 to 31 at 124 Petronas AutoExpert workshop premises nationwide.
