KUALA LUMPUR, October 28 – The 47th Asean Summit has reached its final day, concluding an almost week-long historical diplomatic milestone for Malaysia.
Aside from various multilateral meetings and strengthening of economic ties with KLCC being the ground zero – local social media users have also joined in the fun, sharing their comments and posts from the many highlights from the summit and here are some of it:
‘Raikan Cinta’ with PMX

Local broadcaster Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) shared a short clip on TikTok of prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim enjoying the performance by legendary singer Datuk M.Nasir at the Asean Gala Dinner last night.
Anwar can be seen standing up while clapping his hands as M.Nasir performs his hit song Raikan Cinta’(Celebrate Love) – as the clip goes on, Anwar, who found his groove, even lets out a few dance moves.
And local social media users loved it with some even defending Anwar, saying that PMX deserves a little time off.
“He has been working so hard, let him enjoy just a little bit,” commented user lilianmishael78.
“Let him release some steam, being a host is tiring – just like when guests visit your house during Hari Raya,” commented user MS232730.
“I enjoyed seeing him at ease, just like our fathers when they watched their favourite artists,” commented user Momomomomi.
RTM’s post has been viewed over 600,000 times with over 30,000 likes.
The Beast x ‘Budi95’?
One of the main highlights from the Asean Summit is definitely the historic visit by US president Donald Trump who came to the summit from KLIA riding his cutting-edge official transport car, the Cadillac One or also known by its nickname ‘The Beast’ on last Sunday (October 26).
Trump even invited Anwar to ride with him from the airport to the summit, breaking usual diplomatic and security protocol.
However, a photo of ‘The Beast’ stopping by at a Petronas station to fuel up has caught the attention of local social media users, with many poking fun relating the situation with the recent fuel subsidy initiative Budi95 programme laid out by the Malaysian government.
“No wonder Trump invited PMX to ride with him on The Beast, he wanted to borrow Anwar’s IC,” Facebook user Hazril Hafiz cheekily captioned his post.
“Trump also wants to try out subsidised fuel,” commented Facebook user Adli Zaimi.
“Trump must have been fuming at PMX for selling fuel at a cheap price,” user Rozaidi Mustafa commented.
High-fiving police

The Asean Summit has also seen several temporary road closures at major highways and also key routes around the city centre– even Ampang Park was designated as a red zone due to its close proximity to the Summit with heavy police presence to monitor the area.
However this did not stop a group of local skaters from enjoying their usual pastime at the MRT Ampang Park’s skatepark.
A TikTok clip shared by user haziq has been raking up views which shows a rare moment of communal love between KL police and the skateboarding community where in the video showed a local skater skateboarding at the park while being watched by a large group of police.
One of the officers was even seen giving the skater a high-five after he successfully pulled a skateboarding trick in front of him.
“See, when the police are this friendly, everyone will feel safe. Please normalise police being friendly with the community,” commented user mz4zm_ .
“The cop was so chill, it’s such a vibe,” commented TikTok user 666.
Haziq’s TikTok post has been viewed over 400,000 times with over 30,000 likes.
Shoutout from the White House
@whitehouse Malaysian fighter jet welcomes Air Force One into Malaysian airspace
Another key online moment from the summit was when the official TikTok page for the US’s presidential administration, the White House, re-shared a clip of a Malaysian fighter jet welcoming Air Force One into Malaysian airspace.
The TikTok post which was shared on Sunday, was initially shared on X by the White House’s special assistant to the president and communication advisor, Margo Martin.
The clip showcased a Royal Malaysian Air Force F/A-18 escorting the official aircraft carrying Trump as they entered Malaysian airspace.
The post has also prompted over a thousand comments including from several local TikTok users, who coined the gesture as an extension of Malaysian hospitality.
“Malaysian hospitality is above political beliefs or religion,” commented user Nedxree.
“Malaysia hospitality is always on top,” commented user rockinglifeeachday.
“Wow, the official (US administrative) page mentions Malaysia,” commented user Ocean king.
Meanwhile, several other users were also seen sharing their warm welcome to the US president in the comments.
“Mixed feelings on his visit. Nonetheless our religion teaches us to honour guests, welcome Mr President, nice to see your dance upon arrival,” commented user Addeando.
“Welcome to Malaysia from Malaysians, we do not agree with your views but we still respect you as guests for the Asean Summit. Free Palestine,” commented user nucleusplatypus.
Aside from that, the White House has also shared a post of Trump’s dancing upon his arrival which has garnered over seven million views.
