The parliamentary debate on the Auditor General’s Report demonstrates the government’s commitment to transparency and integrity, with over RM316 million recovered.
KUALA LUMPUR: The parliamentary debate on the Auditor General’s Report is a testament to the government’s commitment to transparency and integrity.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the debate reflects the principles of the Malaysia MADANI framework.
She assured that all observations in the report will be investigated and corrective action taken.
Follow-up audits have already recovered RM316.68 million for the government as of December 31, 2025.
This amount includes revenue collections, penalty claims, outstanding rents, and tax arrears.
Azalina stated that presenting the report without a sincere debate is insufficient for good governance.
“Good governance can only be achieved when all parties engage in discussion, provide input and carry out collective oversight,” she said.
She presented the motion on the Auditor General’s Report 1/2026 in the Dewan Rakyat.
“This debate is not a sign of weakness, but proof that the government has nothing to hide,” she added.
She concluded that such sincerity strengthens public confidence in the administration.
