The bustling Bazaar Jalan TAR in Kuala Lumpur draws crowds with its affordable festive goods and vibrant atmosphere as Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaches

KUALA LUMPUR: The Bazaar Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) is a hive of activity as locals and tourists flock for last-minute Hari Raya preparations.

The popular market is renowned for its affordable festive goods, from traditional cookies and new clothes to Raya envelopes.

A Bernama survey found a lively atmosphere with visitors shopping for various Raya essentials.

Civil servant Nor Zamzarina Abdul Rashid, 45, is using her RM500 special financial assistance to buy supplies.

“This aid eases my family’s burden,” she said, adding her husband was preparing their car for the trip back to their hometown in Kedah.

Social media manager Muhammad Shafwan Mohd Zaidon, 32, said the lower prices and vibrant atmosphere make it an annual must-visit.

“Spending is higher this year as we just had a baby, so I choose Jalan TAR for its affordability and wide selection,” the Kuala Lumpur native said.

Visitor Faridah Norsalam, 39, from Brunei, came with her husband for the variety of clothing and goods available.

“I bought several sets of Raya clothes and other festive items to bring back to Brunei,” she said.

Trader Muhammad Farhan Khairul Nizan, 27, who sells kurta and baju Melayu, reported very encouraging sales, especially as Ramadan draws to a close.

“I expect sales to keep increasing and stock may sell out as more people come with Raya approaching soon,” he said, noting he also receives customers from Europe.
