Bersatu today held a special Supreme Council Meeting at the residence of its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in Bukit Damansara.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu today held a special Supreme Council Meeting at the residence of its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in Bukit Damansara here, following the party’s internal upheaval.

The meeting, which began at 10 am, is still ongoing.

Among those present were the party’s vice-presidents Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, treasurer-general Rina Harun and information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz

Meanwhile, former Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin is scheduled to hold a briefing on the party’s direction and political reset at 2 pm at the Universiti Malaya Alumni Association Clubhouse here.

As of yesterday, the Bersatu Disciplinary Board had expelled 17 members, including Hamzah, who is also the Larut Member of Parliament (MP).

Also expelled were Supreme Council member and Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Gerik MP Fathul Huzir Ayob and Padang Rengas MP Captain Azahari Hasan.

The two state assemblymen expelled were Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin (Sungai Manik, Perak) and Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub (Bemban, Melaka), who is also the state’s Opposition Leader.

In addition, nine Bersatu Division chiefs were also expelled: Mohd Hassuandi Hamzah (Larut); Yunus Nurdin (Libaran); Datuk Abdul Aziz Ismail (Dungun); Ahmad Nasir Mid (Selayang); Ahmad Ishak (Gopeng); Kamaruddin Majid (Teluk Intan); Datuk Zulkifli Bujang (Johor Bahru); Ramlan Meon (Tangga Batu); and Mhod Yunus Mhd Yusop (Tapah).

Also expelled were Sabah Bersatu Srikandi Muda Chief Nabila Norsahar and Hulu Langat Bersatu Information Chief Mohamad Shafiq Abdul Halim.
