JPJ allows blacklisted individuals to clear AWAS summonses via MyJPJ from March 18, enabling road tax renewal without counter visits.
SHAH ALAM: Individuals blacklisted due to unpaid fines from the Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) can clear their status digitally from next week.
Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the facility on the MyJPJ application starts on March 18.
This allows road users to settle summonses and renew their Motor Vehicle Licences without visiting a JPJ counter.
“However, no discounts are given for old summonses except for the AWAS summons received this year,” he said.
He specified discounts of RM150, RM200 and RM300 depending on the payment period.
Aedy Fadly clarified that payment through MyJPJ does not involve Notice of Summons (114) or non-compoundable cases.
Those cases must still be resolved in court.
He said individuals issued a Notice to Attend must still visit a JPJ office for investigation.
“If they do not attend, their status will be blacklisted and they will still need to come to JPJ to resolve it,” he added.
Separately, Aedy Fadly announced a Hari Raya Aidilfitri heavy vehicle road ban.
He said it will be enforced for four days to ensure smoother traffic flow nationwide.
The ban dates are March 19 to 20 and March 28 to 29.
