Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the Cabinet will discuss the US tariff issue this Friday before formulating a response.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet will hold further discussions this Friday regarding the United States tariff issue before formulating a formal response.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed the plan, telling reporters to “wait for Friday” for the government’s position.

He was commenting on the US Supreme Court’s decision which struck down most tariff measures previously introduced by former president Donald Trump.

Following the ruling, Trump was reported as saying he would impose a new 10% tariff on countries worldwide under new powers.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry is currently examining the matter in detail.

MITI is coordinating the issue with stakeholders, including counterparts in Washington and regional partners in Southeast Asia, to determine the next course of action.
