A contractor was robbed and assaulted by two men in a Banting oil palm plantation, with police recovering the stolen vehicle within an hour of the crime.

BUKIT PERAH: A contractor in his 50s was robbed of over RM9,000 in cash by two armed men at an oil palm plantation here yesterday.

The suspects initially approached the victim, asking for directions to exit the plantation after claiming they were lost.

One of them then produced a parang, tied the victim’s hands and feet, and kicked him in the face.

The duo fled with the victim’s white Toyota Hilux, an Oppo mobile phone, and personal belongings including important documents and an estimated RM9,500 in cash.

Kuala Langat Police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the stolen vehicle was recovered within an hour.

“Following police investigations and intelligence gathering, the vehicle was recovered after it was abandoned by the suspects at the roadside along Jalan Prima in Puchong,” he said in a statement today.

He urged the public with information to contact the Kuala Langat Police headquarters operations room at 03-3187 2222.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery.
