PETALING JAYA: Credit Bureau Malaysia (CBM), a registered credit reporting agency under the purview of the Ministry of Finance, has formed a strategic partnership with Grab Malaysia to launch the first Malaysian partner app on Grab’s platform, providing Malaysians with trusted credit insights.

The launch of the CBM Partner App with Grab reflects a shared commitment to financial literacy, inclusion and responsible credit behaviour.

This milestone marks a significant leap in digitising access to credit information, enabling millions of Malaysians to understand their credit standings through an already well-known digital platform on their smartphones.

Through the newly launched partner app, available directly on the Grab app, users will be able to access the CBM MyScore Report, a personalised credit scoring tool developed to help individuals and businesses make better-informed financial decisions.

The collaboration comes at a time when growing segments of Malaysians, particularly gig workers, micro-entrepreneurs, and young earners, continue to operate with limited clarity about their credit health.

Under the Malaysian National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2026-2030, financial inclusion and literacy have become national priorities, with targeted efforts to boost awareness and foster better habits and decision-making across income levels.

CBM chairman and deputy president of Sunway Group Evan Cheah said the collaboration between CBM and Grab will ensure credit insights are easily accessible on an established platform that is used and trusted by millions of Malaysians.

“This collaboration marks an important milestone in CBM’s long-term commitment to empower Malaysian MSMEs and individuals, in line with Sunway’s aspiration of nation building,“ he said in a statement.

CBM CEO Soo Chin Kang said CBM’s presence on Grab is a meaningful step toward advancing financial literacy, financial inclusion, and responsible credit behaviour. “By embedding credit insights within the familiar environment of Grab, financial learning becomes accessible, intuitive, and non-intimidating to everyday Malaysians.”

Grab Malaysia director of commercial and deliveries Tan Jiong Jian said, at Grab Malaysia, the goal is to bring essential services closer to Malaysians through a trusted, everyday digital platform.

“Welcoming CBM as our first Malaysian Partner App reflects our commitment to making financial information more accessible, helping individuals better understand their credit standing and make informed decisions that support their wellbeing.

“By enabling seamless access to CBM’s services within the Grab app, without the need for multiple downloads, we are strengthening the digital financial ecosystem for our customers as well as driver-, delivery-, and merchant-partners, in line with broader national finance digitalisation goals,” he said.

CBM, which is jointly owned by Sunway Group and Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd, was the first credit reporting agency granted access to Bank Negara Malaysia’s Central Credit Reference Information System.

Through its data and digital solutions, CBM provides comprehensive credit information and insights to individuals, MSMEs, and financial institutions, supporting informed decision-making, improved risk management and responsible credit practices.

As Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, Grab continues to provide essential mobility, delivery, and digital financial services across eight countries. The partner app extends Grab’s offering by integrating additional everyday services directly into the platform, offering users a cohesive and effortless experience.
