The Digital Ministry will focus on six key sectors to accelerate national digital transformation, aiming to empower people and deliver tangible societal benefits.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Digital Ministry is focusing on six impactful areas to accelerate digital transformation and drive the national digital agenda in the first half of 2026.

Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the key sectors are healthcare, transport, agriculture, digitalisation of small and medium enterprises, enforcement, and government services.

“From these six areas, we will look at how we can empower people in these sectors so that they understand, access and adopt existing technology,” he said.

He stated this after launching Menara Merdeka 118 as the nation’s first MD Nexus.

Gobind said the government must help bridge the gap in new technology to ensure efforts translate into real impact.

“This is precisely why we are focusing on these six impactful areas, to ensure that what we do today delivers meaningful benefits to society at large,” he added.

The MD Nexus recognition is part of the MD Location Recognition initiative led by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation.

It recognises premier business premises designed to support digital businesses, services and innovation.

“As Malaysia’s first MD Nexus, Merdeka 118 represents the tangible progress of our mission to weave technology into the very fabric of our economy and society,” Gobind said.

He added that the launch is a clear sign the national digitalisation agenda is moving from policy to reality.
