Eight foreign ministers jointly condemn Israel’s West Bank land declaration as illegal, warning it undermines the two-state solution and violates international law.

MOSCOW: The foreign ministers of eight nations have issued a joint condemnation of the Israeli government’s decision to declare land in the occupied West Bank as state property.

In a statement circulated by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the ministers labelled the move “a grave escalation” that aims to accelerate illegal settlement activity.

The signatories are Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

They stated the measure is designed to entrench Israeli control and apply unlawful sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

“This step reflects an attempt to impose a new legal and administrative reality designed to consolidate control over the occupied land,” the joint statement read.

The ministers emphasised that this action undermines the two-state solution and erodes prospects for an independent Palestinian state.

They stated these actions violate international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and UN Security Council resolutions.

The statement also referenced the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on Israel’s policies in the occupied territory.

The ministers reaffirmed their rejection of unilateral measures aimed at changing the status of Palestinian territories.

They called on the international community to take decisive action to ensure compliance with international law.

The statement urged protection of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
