
A former bodyguard was sentenced to six years in jail and two strokes of the cane for robbing a motorcyclist, alongside separate jail terms for impersonating a police officer.
SUNGAI PETANI: A former bodyguard was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment and two strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to robbing a motorcyclist and causing him injury.
Mohd Faizal Sinorcho, 40, entered his plea before Sessions Court judge Najwa Che Mat.
The charge stated that he robbed a man of his motorcycle and intentionally caused injury in front of the National Anti-Drug Agency office on Jalan Cindai at 12.45 am on Feb 9.
The offence, under Section 392 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum penalty of 14 years’ jail and may include a fine or whipping.
Separately, Mohd Faizal received a seven-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of impersonating a police officer.
Before Magistrate Mohamad Azlan Basri, he was charged with posing as an officer by wearing a police-vest and holding handcuffs in front of a woman at a CMart entrance on Feb 9.
He was sentenced to five months’ imprisonment under Section 170 of the Penal Code.
Before Magistrate Muhammad Syaiful Akmal Mohamad Razi, he faced another charge for posing as an officer and deceiving a woman in a Perodua Viva travelling from Gerik to Sungai Petani on Feb 8.
He received a two-month jail term under Section 171 of the Penal Code for this offence.
The same magistrate also sentenced him to 24 months’ imprisonment for using criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
This charge was framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 10 years’ jail, a fine, whipping, or a combination.
