Jerusalem residents heard blasts and saw flashes as Israeli air defences engaged a new Iranian missile barrage, following strikes near holy sites
JERUSALEM: A series of explosions were heard in Jerusalem early Wednesday after Israel’s military said it had identified another round of missiles launched from Iran.
AFP reporters in the city heard multiple explosions and saw bright flashes in the sky moments after the army said its air defence systems were “operating to intercept the threat”.
Air raid warnings rang out across multiple parts of Jerusalem as the military’s Home Front Command ordered residents into shelters.
This latest barrage follows strikes on Monday where Israeli police found missile and interceptor fragments at holy sites in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The fragments were discovered near the Al-Aqsa mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
