FAMA’s Semarak Syawal Pasar Tani targets RM40 million in sales, offering affordable festive goods and special promotions like the RM10 Agro MADANI combo

SEREMBAN: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) aims to generate RM40 million in total sales from its nationwide Semarak Syawal Pasar Tani programme.

The seven-day event, running until 20 March, involves 722 locations across the country including permanent and mobile farmers’ markets.

FAMA chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli said the programme allows the public to obtain necessities at reasonable prices ahead of the festive season.

It also provides opportunities for farmers and agro-entrepreneurs to boost sales and expand their product market.

“The response so far is very encouraging, with supply also seen as stable, thus helping to ensure prices remain controlled ahead of Aidilfitri,” he told reporters at the Ampangan Pasar Tani here.

He advised the public against panic buying, noting that traders are complying with set prices.

A key attraction is the Agro MADANI combo, offering chicken, eggs and vegetables for RM10 compared to the usual RM17.50.

Other promotions include fresh meat at RM28 per kilogramme versus the market price of RM38, and retired laying hens sold at RM10 each.

Asked about concerns over price hikes due to conflict in West Asia, Aminuddin said the supply and price of domestic food items remain stable for now.

FAMA will continue to facilitate and diversify supply sources to ensure sufficient chain supply and avoid future disruptions.

“If there are disruptions from external factors, we will identify the cause and find alternative supply sources to maintain price stability,” he said.
