FAMA aims for RM75 million in sales through 5,000 Agro Madani programmes nationwide this year, building on last year’s success of RM127 million.
JASIN: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is targeting RM75 million in sales through its Agro MADANI Carnival and Sales Programme this year.
Director-general Abdul Rashid Bahri said the target involves about 5,000 sales programmes and 14 carnivals nationwide, with participation from roughly 52,000 entrepreneurs.
“Last year, FAMA set the same target for sales value and programme implementation, but managed to carry out 5,700 programmes with sales reaching RM127 million, thereby surpassing the target set,” he said.

He expressed optimism that this year’s RM75 million target can be achieved and potentially exceeded.
Abdul Rashid was speaking after the official opening of the Melaka state-level Agro MADANI Sales Carnival by state Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
For the Melaka edition running from Feb 13 to 15, FAMA is targeting 26,000 visitors and sales valued at RM780,000.
The carnival in Merlimau involves 88 local entrepreneurs with 105 sales lots provided.
Abdul Rashid said this creates wider market opportunities for small and medium operators to market their agri-food products directly to consumers.
The large-scale implementation aims to ensure agro-food supplies remain sufficient, easily accessible and offered at reasonable prices.
This is especially important ahead of the festive season, he added.
“The Agro MADANI Sales Carnival is expected to continue serving as a high-impact platform in strengthening the marketing chain of local agri-food products,” he said.
He noted it also expands both physical and digital sales approaches with the involvement of strategic partners.
A total of 572 sales programmes will be carried out nationwide in February and March.
This involves 430 programmes at FAMA outlets and 142 at non-FAMA locations as part of Pre-Ramadan and Pre-Syawal initiatives.
