
Search and rescue teams are still looking for a 21-year-old man after his firefighter brother’s body was found washed ashore near Pantai Kandis.
BACHOK: The body of a firefighter reported missing at a beach here was found washed ashore this afternoon. The search for his younger brother continues.
Ahmad Badrul Naim Ab Wahab, 32, was found by members of the public about three kilometres from Pantai Kandis at 12.15 pm. He was a firefighter stationed in Penang.
His 21-year-old brother, Ahmad Nuruddin Ab Wahab, remains missing. The search and rescue operation for him is ongoing.
Bachok police chief Supt Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin said the operation’s search radius has been extended up to 10 kilometres along the coastline.
The multi-agency operation involves the police, fire department, Civil Defence Force and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency. It began yesterday after the two brothers went missing.
The pair were believed to have been at the beach for a picnic with 20 other family members from Pasir Puteh when the incident occurred at 5.30 pm yesterday.
