KUCHING: Five men, ranging in age from 24 to 83, have been arrested for allegedly taking part in a cockfighting activity at an open area in Sungai Apong, Kuching, this past Sunday.

In a Facebook post, Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the raid was carried out at 4.14pm, resulting in the arrests. He noted that while some individuals managed to flee into a nearby forest during the operation, officers successfully detained five men who are now assisting with investigations.

Several items believed to have been used in connection with the alleged activity were also confiscated during the raid.

All five detainees subsequently tested negative for drugs. The case is currently being investigated under Section 73(1)(G) of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999.
