The number of flood victims in Sabah has decreased slightly, with relief centres remaining open in three districts as the situation stabilises.

KOTA KINABALU: The number of people displaced by floods in Sabah has decreased to 6,462 as of this morning. This figure is down from 6,595 people recorded yesterday.

The evacuees are from 2,124 families currently housed in 30 temporary relief centres. These centres are operational across the districts of Beaufort, Membakut and Tenom.

Tenom remains the worst-affected area with 4,931 evacuees. Beaufort has 1,462 people displaced, while Membakut has 69.

A total of 155 villages across the three districts have been impacted by the floods. No casualties or fatalities have been reported.

The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat provided the update in a statement today. The districts of Beaufort and Membakut are located on the state’s west coast.

Tenom is situated in the interior region of Sabah.
