
The number of flood victims in Sabah has increased to over 5,100 people, with Tawau declared the latest affected district following continuous heavy rain.
KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims in Sabah has risen to 5,141 people from 2,160 families as of this morning.
This marks an increase from 4,761 people from 1,828 families yesterday.
All victims from four districts are now housed in 27 temporary evacuation centres. The affected districts are Pitas, Kota Marudu, Paitan and Tawau.
Tawau was declared a flood-hit area last night following continuous rain. This makes it the latest district to be affected by the ongoing floods.
Pitas district has recorded the highest number of victims with 2,120 people. It is followed by Kota Marudu with 1,929 victims, Paitan with 847 and Tawau with 245.
The floods have impacted a total of 80 villages across the four districts. No deaths have been reported so far.
