Asnaf and flood victims in Manjoi can collect free pre-loved festive clothes, shoes, and bags for Aidilfitri preparations at a community event on March 1
IPOH: Needy individuals and flood victims in the Gugusan Manjoi area here can obtain free pre-loved clothing, shoes, and bags in preparation for Aidilfitri.
The initiative is a first-time programme organised by the Kampung Sungai Tapah Neighbourhood Watch Committee (KRT) in collaboration with the NGO Berkat Manjoi.
KRT chairman Zairol Noor Akma Zakaria said they had been receiving public donations since the morning, involving adult and children’s clothing such as baju Melayu, baju kurung, tudung, and blouses in various colours and patterns.
Those in need can collect the items at Dewan Manjoi Baru Tambahan (MBT) in Manjoi Baru on March 1 from 9am to 12pm.
Zairol said the collection drive was for today only, with about 30 volunteers involved in sorting the clothes by type and size.
More than 1,000 items have been received so far, including women’s baju kurung in various sizes, men’s clothing like kurta, shoes, handbags, tudung, and kopiah.
Donor Zuzilah Ayu Mohamed Basri, 55, from Kampung Sungai Tapah, said she contributed about 20 items, consisting of baju kurung and tudung that were still in good condition but no longer worn.
“I took the initiative to donate these clothes to those in need. These are not just my clothes; my sister and child also contributed,” she said.
